Amour de Puppies

I GOT AN ADORABLE PUPPY! Her name is Jojo and, because we got her when she was pregnant, now we have cute baby puppies crawling around the house.

SO, CORRECTION: I GOT ADORABLE PUPPIES!!!

In English class, we were given the topic "One can truly experience the power of love" for writing an illustrative essay. Watching a puppy giving birth was mesmerizing (is this considered weird?!?). Without a doubt, I decided to describe my experience when I observed Jojo's little moment of delight!

Enjoy!

Thank you to AP Capstone students, @TeenBurnaby2014 Ariel & Brendan, for speaking so passionately @ tonight's #Burnaby School Brd Mtg. #sd41

— Harman S. Pandher (@Pandher4Burnaby) January 28, 2015
Last night I had the chance to speak at the Burnaby Board of Education Meeting about my experience as a student in AP Capstone, "an innovative diploma program that provides students with an opportunity to engage in rigorous scholarly practice of the core academic skills necessary for successful college completion."
Allow me to briefly highlight 3 important skills that I have gained from AP Capstone so far:
  1. Research abilities. These are useful assets to have not just for post secondary, but also for high school courses. We are constantly learning how to conduct research in a variety of ways, such as using databases and sources outside our classrooms. Enhanced research abilities have helped us in writing well, thought-out essays.
  2. Critical thinking. We have been taught to think critically about world issues through different perspectives and lenses. Nowadays, whenever I read the news, I make sure that I am aware of their sources and their reliability, so that I know I am not obtaining false information.
  3. Self-realization and motivation. In AP Capstone, we get to discover our potentials. We are motivated to come to class because we have wonderful teachers and classmates who have insightful ideas about everything. Through class discussions, we can truly learn a lot about myself and my peers.
